The Lotus and the Rose
Siddharta Gautama was born a rich prince, Jesus of Nazareth was born in an ordinary manger.
The Lotus became the Buddha;, The Rose became the Christ.
Siddharta nearly died, seeking Wisdom through austerity, Jesus simply lived, exemplifying Love as the Path.
Gautama meditated under the ancient Bodhi tree, Jesus Christ suffered and died upon a wooden cross.
The Buddha attained Perfect Enlightenment, The Christ took the sins of the world.
The Wise Sage resounded, “Let Earth be my witness!” The Great Master taught, “Love ye one another.”
The Buddha gave the world the Middle Way The Christ rend the veil of the temple.
The Earth rumbled, the Dakinis1 wept; The sun darkened, the holy women prayed.
The Buddha released souls from the Wheel; The Christ descended, freeing spirits from hell.
The Buddha died consciously, entering the Divine State of Nirvana; Jesus Christ Resurrected, later Ascended into Heaven.
Gautama Buddha, became the Lord of the World, Lord Jesus the Christ, became the Prince of Peace.
1 Dakinis are feminine angels in Buddhism.
